Do I really need a mate?
Yes. MateIt is built for exactly two people – that’s the whole point. If you don’t know anyone who’d join: put your challenge in the Marketplace, or join an open one there.
What does MateIt cost?
You can use MateIt for free without any catch. Upgrading to Premium lets you create challenges with photo or video proof and removes the challenge limit. You’ll find the current price under Pricing.
What happens if my mate quits?
If your mate leaves the challenge, it stays: you’ll see that they left and can finish it alone or end it. If your mate deletes their account, the shared challenge including entries and chat is deleted for both of you. Your streak is kept either way.
Which devices does MateIt run on?
On iPhone and Android. The app is in the App Store and on Google Play, so your mate can happily be on the other system.
What data of mine does MateIt hold?
Only what the app needs to run: your account (name and email address), your challenges and entries, your chat messages and – if you switched proof on – your photos and videos. No access to your phone’s location, contacts or health data.
Can I run several challenges at once?
With Premium, yes – as many as you like, and with different mates too. On the free plan, one challenge at a time.
Can I change or leave a running challenge?
Changing it, yes – through the menu inside the challenge, the same flow as when you created it. Leaving works too: your mate can then carry on alone or end the challenge.
Is my data sold or shared?
No, nothing is sold. Your proof photos are seen by your mate and nobody else. To run the service we work with providers, for example for the database, push notifications and email; pseudonymous usage statistics are only collected if you agree. You can delete your account at any time (what we exceptionally keep is listed under Delete account).
